1.1 The Cartesian Plane: A cartesian plane is also called a coordinate grid (x-axis, y-axis). -We will learn to identify and lable the axes and the origin of the cartesian plane. -We will also identify and plot points on the cartesian plane.
1.2 Create Designs: Many designs can be created using the coordinate grid (cartesian grid). -We will learn to create a design and identify the coordinates used to make a design. -We will learn to identify the coordinates of vertices of a 2-D shape.
1.3 Transformations: A transformation is the movement of a greometric figure. Examples are translations, reflections, and rotations -We will learn to translate, reflect, and rotate shapes -We will learn to describe the image resulting from a transformation.
1.4 Horizontal and Vertical Transformations: Using the terms 'horizontal' and 'vertical' in relation to a 2-D coordinate grid. -We will learn to describe the movement of a point on a cartesian plane using the terms horizontal and veritcal -We will determine the horizontal and vertical distances between points. -We will describe how vertices of a 2-D shape change position when they are transformed one or more times
